Top 150: Documenting Queensland
Queensland State Archives
Top 150: Documenting Queensland showcases a rare collection of Queensland’s most significant historical documents, providing a valuable insight into the State’s rich and colourful past.
Celebrating the anniversary of Queensland’ separation from New South Wales in 1859, the exhibition maps the decisions, events, people and places which have been instrumental in shaping its unique history. Documents from the collection reveal the influence of prominent Queenslanders in the fields of literature, law, medicine, technology and conservation.
Key records, chosen by historian Dr Murray Johnson and sourced primarily from the collection held at Queensland State Archives and other selected Queensland cultural institutions, including Queensland’s Proclamation, the Convict Book of Trials (1835-1842), an album of early Queensland television experiments and the Allan Moir cartoons on the 1996 Wik Decision.
Presented by Queensland State Archives as part of Queensland’s 150th celebrations.
