Queensland Firsts/Top 150: Documenting Queensland
Queensland State Archives

As part of the Q150 Celebrations, Queensland State Archives is touring two exhibitions throughout regional Queensland. By developing an exhibition from its rare collection, including history-defining archival records, QSA is able to present Queenslanders with a rare glimpse into pivotal moments in Queensland's history, while also promoting its work, its historians and the value of documenting history.
The exhibitions toured in two separate routes to ensure as many Queenslanders as possible had an opportunity to see the records.
A Child's Life of the Station
Roma Regional Council and Mitchell Arts Council Inc.

Viewed to a soundtrack of children laughing and playing, A Child’s Life on the Station is a series of heart-warming photographs that portray the daily lives of children on Australia's Outback stations. All the photographs were taken by parents and friends of children living on the land in the Roma region and were originally part of a competition managed by Mitchell Arts Council, with assistance from Roma Regional Council Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) and Epic Energy.
The Council initially supported the development of the exhibition through RADF, and due to its popularity touring to other regions across the state, it contributed ongoing funding so the exhibition could continue touring for a total of three years.
EXTRAordinary
Kim Guthrie and Sunshine Coast Regional Council RADF

A series of 27 bold photographs that explore the commonplace, kitsch, archetypes and stereotypes that make Australian culture unique. Kim Guthrie is a photographer based in Sunshine Coast's Hinterlands. Accompanying his EXTRAordinary exhibition, Kim successfully received support from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) to develop the book, The Beautiful People + Love the World.
The book illustrates Kim's ability to capture people and places in ordinary settings and activities, and celebrates the community life.
The book is promoted as part of the exhibition's tour, displayed at each venue, further leveraging the Council's investment statewide. The exhibition is in its second year of touring.
